Do you or any of your friends and family fancy taking a leap of faith for Henshaws?

Well, come Saturday the 4^th of December you can because were arranging a sponsored parachute jump, at Lancaster airfield.

It’s the chance to take that one small step you’ve always dreamed of and have the experience of a lifetime – AND – raise cash for Henshaws Society for Blind People at the same time.

It’s a tandem jump (you jump with an instructor) so there’s no special training needed, just a big heart and a lot of guts ... oh, and a parachute, you’ll definitely need one of those, but we'll supply that.

Our Journey will begin at the Mill Hotel Chester, where we board the Broad Beam Restaurant Cruiser and sail along the Shropshire Union Canal to relax and enjoy a unique dining experience through historic Chester.

We will pass under several bridges; see the Phoenix or King Charles Tower, the old Cotton Mill, pass Hoole Lane Lock and the lock keepers cottage and several other interesting sights. Our journey will end back at the Mill Hotel.

Henshaws ahoy! If you, or someone you know is blind or visually impaired and would like to sail a yacht, now's your chance.

This is a super opportunity for anyone with sea-legs... and it's completely FREE.

It's a two-day course where you will learn to sail on the Menai Straits in North Wales. The course includes free accommodation and tuition from professional sailing instructors. And when you've finsihed the course, you will receive a Royal Yachting Association certificate.

The course is on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May.

Experience the amazing life on board U-534 World War II German U-boat. We will take a ferry to Woodside terminal and enjoy a 50 minute cruise with commentary.

When we land we'll visit the café to have a light lunch whilst enjoying the stunning views - if you prefer you can bring along a packed lunch.

We will then have a guided tour, visit the exhibition and shop. Then it's back on the ferry and back to Henshaws.

All blind and visually impaired people living in and around Liverpool are invited to join us on a FREE Duck Bus Tour around the city and its waters.

The bus travels through the City taking in the major sites including the Pier Head, The Three Graces, St George’s Hall and the Cathedrals. The bus then goes to Albert Dock and turns into a water vehicle through the South Docks via Wapping and Queens Docks to Coburg Dock.

There will be live commentary throughout the tour.

Chatsworth House have kindly donated free tickets to our families so they can experience the legendary Christmas tour.

This year, Chatsworth have taken their inspiration for this year's tour from the Hans Christian Anderson tale, 'The Candle'.

Our families will also get to enjoy all the other Christmas goodies that Chatsworth has to offer including craft activities, the animals in the farmyard and the woodland adventure playground.

We’re now one of the very few places that offer a Braille course. It's aimed at adults with visual impairments but sighted people are also welcome.

No entry requirements
Learn Grade 1 and Grade 2 Braille
Course length is open ended – you can take as much time as you need
No more than 9 students per class - plenty of individual support
Work at your own pace with support of the tutor
Course materials and equipment are provided
Opportunity to purchase or borrow materials to practice at home

The core learning material is ‘Fingerprint: Braille reading and writing course’ by Nigel Berry.
