Taking your child to the hospital can be a unsettling and confusing experience for parents as well as for children.

That’s why we have a Family Support Officer based at the Paediatric Clinic of the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital one day a week.

Our Family Support Officer can support you in a number of ways:

  • Support during your appointment
  • Speaking to the ophthalmologist on your behalf
  • Explaining anything you may not understand
  • Emotional support
  • Information about other services or benefits your family may be eligible for
  • Provide VI friendly toys for your children

With prior arrangement, our Family Support Officer can also come with you to appointments on days when they are not usually at the hospital.

We also run an adult patient support service at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
